England To Host Spain At Wembley In 2027 Women’s World Cup Qualifier
England will welcome world champions Spain to Wembley Stadium in April for a high-profile 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying showdown.
More Details
The fixture — set for Tuesday, 14 April with kickoff time to be confirmed — will see the two European giants meet for the first time since England’s dramatic Euro 2025 triumph, where the Lionesses defeated Spain on penalties to retain their continental crown.
Spain had previously edged England in the 2023 World Cup final.
“Spain are of course one of the best teams in the world and to play them at Wembley again is exciting,” England head coach Sarina Wiegman said.
“We know from the Euro final just how tough they are to play against, and there’s a great deal of mutual respect between the two teams.”
England share League A, Group A3 with Spain, Iceland and Ukraine in the new qualification structure, which mirrors the UEFA Nations League format.
Only the four group winners in League A will qualify directly for the World Cup in Brazil, with all other teams entering multi-stage play-offs for the remaining eight spots.
“It’s a challenging group but our objective is to qualify for the World Cup,” Wiegman added. “We hope our fans can help us take one step closer to Brazil at Wembley in April.”
Details on venues and ticketing for England’s remaining home qualifiers will be announced later.
