Uzbekistan defeated Thailand 2-1 to advance to the last eight of the Asian Cup in Qatar.

Uzbekistan will play in the quarter finals of the ongoing Asian Cup thanks to a 2-1 success over Thailand.
The White Wolves got the better of their adversaries on Tuesday afternoon to book a quarter final date with hosts and defending champions Qatar.
Srecko Katanec’s lads took the lead through Azizbek Turgunbaev in the 37th minute to finish the first half ahead.
Supachok Sarachart levelled for the War Elephants in the 58th minute to set up an interesting half an hour.
Uzbekistan wasted no time in restoring their lead through the boots of Abbosbek Fayzullaev who controlled a well placed pass on the chest before slotting a half volley past the goalkeeper in the 65th minute.
Thailand’s run in the tournament comes to an end and they will not be able to match or better their their place finish in 1972.

Saudi Arabia will lock horns with South Korea in the last match of the second round later on Tuesday.
The Green Falcons will go head to head against the Red Devils for a place in the last eight.

The winner of the tie will then face a tricky matchup against Australia in the quarter finals.
Both South Korea and Saudi Arabia have had an average tournament hitherto going by their pedigree.
