The White Wolves got the better of their adversaries on Tuesday afternoon to book a quarter final date with hosts and defending champions Qatar.

Srecko Katanec’s lads took the lead through Azizbek Turgunbaev in the 37th minute to finish the first half ahead.

Supachok Sarachart levelled for the War Elephants in the 58th minute to set up an interesting half an hour.

Uzbekistan wasted no time in restoring their lead through the boots of Abbosbek Fayzullaev who controlled a well placed pass on the chest before slotting a half volley past the goalkeeper in the 65th minute.

Thailand’s run in the tournament comes to an end and they will not be able to match or better their their place finish in 1972.

Saudi Arabia will lock horns with South Korea in the last match of the second round later on Tuesday.
