Jordan have qualified for the quarter finals of the Asian Cup thanks to a late drama against Iraq.

Jordan on Monday afternoon produced one of the most exciting dramas of the Asian Cup as they snatched a late victory against Iraq.
Houssaine Ammouta’s side made their one man advantage count as they came from behind to snatch a late and dramatic victory.
Yazan Al Naimat opened the scoring for Jordan in the first minute of first half added time.
Iraq responded in the second half with two goals in eight minutes through Saad Natiq and Aymen Hussein to gain control of the tie.
A minute after putting his team ahead, Hussein received his marching orders after a second bookable offence to set up a difficult final twenty minutes for his side.
The Iraqi side defended with their hearts through the remainder of the game until a forced implosion caused them to concede in the fifth minute of added time.
Yazan Al Arab equalized to send the Jordan crowd into jubilation before Nizar Al Rashdan scored the winner two minutes later to send the whole stadium into delirium.

A quarter final date now awaits Jordan against a team on a fairytale run, Tajikistan.
Jordan, playing in their fifth tournament will hope to beat their previous record of three quarter final appearances.

Standing in their way will be debutants, the Crowns of Tajikistan who dumped the UAE out of the tournament to reach the last eight.
Both teams will slug it out on Friday for a place in the semi finals of the 2023 edition of the Asian Cup.
